On March 28th and 29th, the SensioLabs team and the French-speaking Symfony community gathered at the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris for SymfonyLive Paris 2024. Were you not at this must-attend event? We’ll summarize it for you, but only because it’s you!
Pre-Conference Workshops
Once again this year, SensioLabs sponsored the pre-conference workshops at SymfonyLive Paris. On March 26th and 27th, we hosted the workshops at our offices in Asnières-sur-Seine. Participants had the opportunity to enhance their skills ahead of the conference through workshops focusing on specific topics related to Symfony and PHP.
For this edition, among the other workshops, Mathéo Daninos and Benjamin Zaslavsky from the technical team at SensioLabs presented:
- “The components Messenger and Workflow with Symfony,” presented by Benjamin Zaslavsky.
- “Reconciling with the frontend using Symfony UX,” presented by Mathéo Daninos.

A Great Conference and Sponsor Hall at SymfonyLive Paris
The conference kicked off with Fabien Potencier’s traditional opening keynote at 9 am on Thursday, titled “Using some Git magic on the Symfony mono-repository.” Git is an open source version control system, widely used today.
For the other technical talks over the 2 days, this year’s trends included Symfony UX, particularly focusing on the relationships between backend and frontend technologies (such as JavaScript), as well as testing. The conference talks were, as always, of excellent technical quality and there was a great atmosphere in the room. If you’d like to watch or re-watch them, the replays are already available here.
As the creator of Symfony, we naturally sponsored this year’s conference once again as a Diamond sponsor.
This year, we were situated in the magnificent Honnorat room along with other sponsors. At our booth, we offered various activities to engage with attendees in a fun way.
- First, we offered a fortune cookie challenge 🥠. Besides being delicious, the fortune cookies hid two winning messages. The two lucky winners were able to walk away with a JBL wireless headset and a box of Michel Cluizel chocolates.
- The second challenge was a quiz ❓ consisting of 10 questions about Symfony 7, projected on our screen using the Kahoot application. Participants competed in groups of 3 to try to win a box of chocolates.
- Finally, we hosted the classic SensioLabs University Platform challenge: 20 questions about Symfony and PHP to win a subscription to the platform. If you also want to improve your knowledge of the framework, you can subscribe to the online platform 💻 or take a free monthly test to try it out.

A Sporty Edition filled with Surprises!
Since France is hosting the Olympics this year, we wanted to bring some sports 🏋️♀️ excitement to SymfonyLive Paris. Participants showcased their skills by competing in mini-foosball and air hockey matches. And let me tell you, the competition was fierce! In addition to the sports activities, Symfony offered a culinary and active experience that combined fun with utility. They set up a Smoothie Bike 🍹: participants pedaled on a bike connected to a blender, mixing fruits for refreshing smoothies.
SymfonyLive Paris 2024 stands at the forefront of technology. In collaboration with Symfony, we prepared a surprise for the attendees.
On Friday, robots 🤖 made a special appearance (not to take over the world, don’t worry). They handed out pastries, cheeseburgers, macaroons, etc., along with flyers, while showing videos. It was quite a spectacle! The robots were a hit for their friendliness (yes, they could talk) and uniqueness.
Reconnecting and Sharing at SymfonyLive Paris.
SensioLabs is a large team spread across the four corners of France. Events like SymfonyLive Paris allow us to come together for two days and share some good times outside of the conference.
During the conference, we all received our annual goodies: a SensioLabs branded scarf. All behind Sensio! ⚽
Last year, we battled it out in an intense game of laser tag. This year, we took it to new heights and went to the sky bar at the TOO hotel: TacTac.
We enjoyed a semi-private space where we could indulge in Asian-inspired dishes, share drinks together, and, as a bonus, enjoy a magnificent view of Paris.
